Nancy's fancy tops by nancy hakes

I have been an executive administrative assistant/secretary for my entire working career, but I have always loved being creative. I grew up in Rochester, moved away for about ten years, then moved back in 1998. I am married with a wonderful adult son we adopted from Guatemala as a baby. I enjoy decorating, cooking, singing and now making these beautiful tops.

To save beautiful linens and doilies from the dumpster and repurpose them into beautiful tops

I started making these ponchos/shawls/toppers in the Summer of 2024. They have all been created out of

mostly vintage linens including table cloths, napkins, curtains, doilies and even Christmas tree skirts and

table runners. They are adorned with new and vintage lace, trim, buttons, pins and more doilies. Some of

the components have been hand dyed and others left in their original color. Please note, that as these

are mostly vintage, there are a few imperfections here and there that I have carefully designed around. I

hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I have enjoyed making them.
